Yes Watson. It's obvious many people here have a problem with premature...........evaluation. Me included. LOL
But really, Rick is obviously a scammer. I love to see him stagger for an explanation.

on p. 26-27 they talk about how the lunar positions on vat 4956 fit 588/7 bce!!!.
"clearly, much of the astronomical data in vat 4956 fits the year 588 b.c.e.
LOL @ Bungi Bill!!
I just want to offer my thanks to everyone for the excellent research and proof offered here.
Also thanks for allowing me the opportunity to 'research this for myself', as was The Watchtower's suggestion in this 2nd article. ;)

i believe the witnesses keep people in the cult by means of using guilt as a tool.
it seems people who leave the religion tend to stop using meds and anti-depressants.
exjws seem more content and less filled with worry and guilt.. what do you think?.
Yes, and quite often. But after getting some therapy I realized that the religion wasn't the only problem. My upbringing was also involved.
Now, I feel I am doing quite well in dealing with those feelings since discovering the root of it. It has reached the point that I can't remember the last time I had feelings of guilt, or at least in an overwhelming way.
I really have come to find a peace in my life that I can never recall having before. I still "am a JW", that is I attend the meetings with my wife, but am inactive in the ministry and don't participate in much of anything JW related.
And now, how did James Brown say it?

an excellent presentation of secular archeology supporting jerusalem's destruction in 607 b.c.e:.

when was ancient jerusalem destroyed?.
@ Alleymom, Whether you were a witness or not doesn't matter to me. And I apologize, I don't feel you are an apostate.
I put it in quotation marks because apologists/skeptics that come here are quick to label those proving the WTS wrong and often discredit truthful info provided by various sources.
I personally think you are awesome and so is your well documented research, at least based on the other thread of part 2 of the WTS's 607 article.

Unfortunate for her Alleymom, Maze will not believe what was received by an "apostate" and then posted on an "apostate website".
She's a sick puppy. Her logic, copy and paste logic, is bonkers. Kudos to you for trying to help her, but it seems hopeless.

At the above thread Maze said, "My interest in posting here has deadened lately. This will likely be my last thread. Initially I participated here because I was interested in sharpening my perception against opposing points of view. Jehovah really doesn't recommend the use of channels such as this for such purposes."

a re-posting of cedar's hi-jacked thread.... cedars:.
i just thought i'd share something if you don't mind.. my conviction in the legitimacy of the society was slowy eroded over a number of years simply by reading the publications and becoming increasingly frustrated at how little the interpretations of prophecy and scripture made sense, added to the complete ineptitude of senior figures in the organisation.. for me, the "glue" that kept everything roughly held together into something that can be called a "faith" was the concept of "increasing light", which as you all know is the principle employed by the society to excuse any mistakes or backtracks that are made.
they routinely flog proverbs 4:18, which as we all know has nothing to do with gradual refinements in understanding when read in context.
Oh yes, and I forgot to say thank you Ziddina for reposting this subject.

I have actually used a version of the question in the OP but have not had much success.
Why? Well, despite people saying that it was a good question, or that they never really thought about it, they are not in the least bit ready to think independently. I've received replies such as, "Despite that, I still believe the FDS is doing an excellent job, IMO."
How can you possibly reason with that?
Again, going back to an abused woman scenario. You tell her to leave him as well as the reasons why. She says she never thought about it "that way" but still blames herself for provoking him and at the same time even praises what a hard worker and good provider he is.
You can't reason with that.
A person has to be ready to wipe the crust off and allow the critical eye to open. Our efforts are but an eyedrop on that crusty eye. It may penetrate, but the person still has to make the effort to open their eye and see what's the reality. (Sorry for the crazy analogy. LOL)
